Introduction to Personal Social and Health Education
Create a new Species. As we explore each of the lessons we should take examples of the best that we can discover about the human being and use these examples to create a new species. By doing this we can demonstrate what we have learnt.
Unit One
Learning title “Who Am I?”
Lesson One
Intelligence
In this lesson we look at the sophisticated brain of Human beings. How do people process information, How do we make connections, how do we learn, How do we create memory? We will also explore creative thinking and how we use our imagination. We will also look at examples of people who have shown great intelligence and their achievements.
Lesson Two
Emotions.
- What are emotions?
- How do we Control our emotions?
- Examples of emotions are; Anger, Joy, surprise, fear, distress and disgust.
- How do we show complex emotions? How do we Express our emotions?
- How do we read and understand our emotions?
- What is emotional literacy?
The LEARNING OUTCOMES for this lesson are;
- I can demonstrate to my teacher that I have understood what emotions are.
- I can give examples of emotions.
- I can say why people have emotions and what causes them.
- I can also recognise why dealing with some emotions can be difficult.
Lesson Three
Culture
In this lesson we explore the various people’s of the world and how their cultures differ from one another.
The LEARNING OUTCOMES for this lesson are:
- I can explain that there are different cultures in the world.
- I can show that I can find out about another culture different from my own.
- I can show appreciation and tolerance for another culture.
Lesson Four
In this lesson we explore how people have different faiths in the world. We explore the six main faiths of the world. These are Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism.
The LEARNING OUTCOMES for this lesson are:
- I can understand that there are different faiths in the world.
- I know that there are 6 main religions that exist in the world.
- I can explain how their beliefs are similar and how they are different.
Lesson Five
We explore the human being. We consider that the human being is body , mind and soul.
The body lives to an average age of 80. What exactly are we? The Buddhists say we are nothing but our mind. Some cultures say we have a soul. What are these things and can we see examples of them?
The LEARNING OUTCOMES for this lesson are:
- I can explain that I am a human being that has a body and that I have a mind and that some people believe in a soul.
Lesson Six
In this lesson we explore human behaviour and the personality and the consequences of our behaviour on one another.
The LEARNING OUTCOMES for this lesson are:
- I can understand how human behaviour has a consequence and that it affects other people.
Lesson Seven
In this lesson we learn about society and how it works. The LEARNING OUTCOMES for this lesson are:
- I can explain how society has groups of people who all work together to achieve the best that they can for everyone.
Lesson Eight
In this lesson we evaluate what we have learnt in the six lessons and how we have learnt it.
