Unit title Investigating Jesus? Resources. This website Lesson One. AIM Establish in pairs and then in a group make some notes What do we already know and what can we want to find out about Jesus? How confident do you feel about your knowledge of Jesus at this stage?
Task One: A mindmap with the information you already know. Share all the class ideas. Birth stories, Christmas, The Bible, His story is told in the Four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke,and John, Most famous individual on earth, A major religion was founded because he lived and died,established a moral code, Helped change the world, Not everyone can agree on who he was, Not everyone can agree on what his message was ( we have lots of different versions of Christianity) Can we find out about some of the different Christian groups. ( Would this help us find out more about Jesus?) Key Words and Concepts you may or may not know: Jesus, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Nativity, Christ, Messiah, Son of God, Lord,Incarnation, Baptism, Disciples, Ministry, Salvation, Miracles, Parables, Resurrection, Crucifixion, Task Two; Overview of How we are going to learn about Jesus. Examine how he is portrayed in film. Can we learn about him from the film the Miracle Maker. ( Looking at what he said, the parables, Looking at what he did the Miracles, and what happened to him the crucifixion and resurrection.) Share ideas. Ask questions about his life and see if we can find some answers. Lesson Outcome By the end of this lesson most students will be able to answer the following questions. a) What can we find out about his family? ( The Gospels tell us about Mary and only his fathers name and that he was reluctant to marry Mary. They lived in Nazaerth and Egypt and visited Jerusalem.) Later on in Marks gospel it says his family thought he was mad.) b) Where did he live as a child and then as an adult? ( chilhood spent in Nazareth, adulthood all around the sea of Galilee.) c) What was he like? ( In the first lesson we can only answer this in part.) We can find out what he was like from what he said and did. d)Who was he? ( This depends on who you are. If you are Jewish you think he was a man who lived and died. If you are Christian you will think he was the Son of God.) e) What did he achieve in his lifetime? ( This depends on who you are. If you are Christian you will say he brought about a new way of living your life.) f) What did he achieve after his death? The Christain faith. Lesson Two What was Jesus Like?
